Set each rate deliberately
- Estimate direct material consumed or allocated to the job.
- Estimate install, service-call, and takedown labor using burdened hourly cost.
- Add equipment, vehicle, selling, and overhead allowances.
- Choose a selling price that achieves the target gross margin.
- Review actual-versus-estimated time after the job and update the book.
Keep adjustments separate
Height, difficulty, and waste should be visible assumptions, not hidden changes to the base unit price. A clean base price plus explicit adjustments makes revisions easier to explain and audit.
